The Google has rolled out its first Enterprise Edition of Glass publicly in mid-2017. And there is an image and specs for Google Glass’s Second Gen. By looking at the leaked details, form outer part, the biggest change to the Google Glass second-gen Enterprise Edition is a USB-C port for charging. It replaces the magnetic cable used on the first versions of Glass.
It says that, the new port will enable to add a lot of extra functionality to the Glass. It will allow the users to charge their Goggle Glass’ with the same cable they use for their phones or laptops.
Google Glass’ Second-Gen
Google Glass’ Second-Gen device seems to have a Snapdragon 710, an integrated LTE modem as well. Not only that this version of glasses have, support for Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Now talking about the camera of Google Glass’ Second-Gen, it apparently has a 32MP sensor that does 4K video captured at 30FPS or 1080p at 120FPS. Moreover, there’s also 3GB of RAM, and supposedly runs Android Oreo. Though, the earlier version of Google Glasses has 2 GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel sensor.
The most obvious external hardware change is visible for the first time in these photos, though. The Second Gen, has, since its first iteration, used a magnetic pin-based system for connecting its charging/data cable. As, you can see, there’s a single USB-C port on the rear of the device.
The original EE had model number A4R-GG1, and this one has A4R-GG2, as revealed by the FCC last year. While the image surfing on the internet shows that there’s a sticker on the device itself that clearly labels it at GG2. It appears that Google is focusing on enterprise customers with its AR wearable technology. This move is similar to what Microsoft is doing with its HoloLens 2.
